The East Rand Hiking Club leaders carry a first aid medical kit but hikers are responsible for carrying their own personal medication, which should be packed in a watertight container well inside your backpack to protect it from heat and damp.
The person carrying the communal kit should stay with, or be in easy reach of, the last hiker of the group.
