HEAT EXHAUSTION....

Prevention
  • Wear hat to protect head and neck.
  • Wear light clothing to protect from sun
  • Use a shirt that has a collar.
  • Carry sufficient water for the conditions
  • Don’t exceed your capabilities (this could include not going on a trip known to be tough!)
Symptoms
  • Flushed face, hot, dry skin.
  • Headache, dizziness.
  • Muscle and/or abdominal cramps.
  • Irritability, vomiting, unconsciousness.
Treatment
  • Stop; rest in shade.
  • Cool down the patient as soon as possible by shading, splashing with water and fanning.
  • Give ample water to drink. Slowly and not ice-cold.
