FOOD....

No hard-&-fast rules here. Some of us have heartier appetites than others!! One thing you must always bear in mind is that if you normally eat a balanced diet, you can throw the balanced bit away for the short term of a week-end hike. What your body will crave is salt and sugar, and you should allow for this. This is the time to eat fats and carbohydrates—fruit, vegetables and protein are temporarily less important!!

Make full use of available dehydrated foodstuffs, get items vacuum-packed, and minimize your use of fresh fruit and tinned goods.
