Suikerbosrand Hiking and Nature Trails
There are two day trails available, namely:
The Cheetah Trail: 4.5 km long:
An undemanding walk beginning at the visitor center. Interpretation provided by the guide booklet, stresses human history and its effects on ecology, descriptions of the most interesting plants species and vegetation types, and the consequences of erosion and pollution.
Bokmakierie trail varying from 12 / 17 km long:
A circular route also starting at the visitor's center but more demanding than the Cheetah trail. This trail is divided into 12 or 17 km walks. Wildlife and bird life is unusually abundant in the typical Bakenveld vegetation.
An abundance of game can be seen during the walk like Hartebeest, Blue Wildebeest, Zebra, Eland, baboon, and many more.

Zebra Trail: 9 km long
Apart from the 9 mammal species in the game camp, Kudu thrives in this area and may be seen all over the farm. The bird life promises to be outstanding with the presence of indigenous trees along the river, the gorges and plateau areas. At times the trail feels so remote that one can hardly believe that both Johannesburg and Pretoria are only 45 min drive away.
The trail is easy to average. Always carry enough water as the water from the river is not fit for human consumption.
On both of these hikes we would have a braai afterwards to meet and answer questions you may have.
